How to Share a File in OneDrive (Internally and Externally)
OneDrive is a cloud-based storage service that allows you to store and share files with others. Sharing files in OneDrive is a great way to collaborate with colleagues or share files with friends and family. In this article, we will guide you through the steps to share a file in OneDrive.
Step 1: Log in to OneDrive
To share a file in OneDrive, you must first log in to your OneDrive account. You can do this by searching for OneDrive in the Windows Search menu on your task bar and opening it. If a login prompt comes up, please login with your Verathon email address. If a File Explorer window pops up, you are already logged in.

Step 2: Select the File You Want to Share
Once you have logged in to your OneDrive account, you need to select the file you want to share. You can do this by navigating to the file in your OneDrive folder in File Explorer. Once you find the file, right click on it and click on Share.

Step 3: Edit Who the File can be Shared With
After share has been clicked, you will be taken to a pop-up where you can enter in the email addresses of the people you want to share the file with. This will default to only let you send to people inside Verathon; if that is what you want just type in their names one at a time and select them from the drop down menu.

If you want to share files with someone outside of Verathon, click on the Gear icon in the top right corner to open Sharing Settings. In this new menu, select the option "People you choose" and then click Apply. This will take you back to the original menu where you can now enter in the full email of the non-Verathon person (this has to be their email and wont work with just a name) and select it from the drop down menu.

Step 4: Choose the Type of Access You Want to Give
Once you have entered the email addresses of the people you want to share the file with, you need to choose the type of access you want to give them. You can choose to give them view-only access or edit access. This defaults to Edit access, but can be changed by clicking the drop down menu next to the email addresses.

Step 5: Add a Message (Optional)
If you want to add a message to the people you are sharing the file with, you can do so in the message box below where you entered the email addresses.
Step 6: Click on the Send Button
After you have entered the email addresses and chosen the type of access you want to give, click on the send button. This will send an email to the people you are sharing the file with, and they will be able to access the file in their own OneDrive account.
Conclusion
Sharing files in OneDrive is a simple process that can be done in just a few steps. By following the steps outlined in this article, you can easily share files with colleagues, friends, and family. OneDrive is a great tool for collaboration and sharing, and we hope this article has been helpful in guiding you through the process of sharing a file in OneDrive.
