How to Organize Emails in the Focused and Other Views in Outlook
If you are using Outlook for your email, you may have noticed that it automatically sorts your emails into two tabs: Focused and Other. The Focused tab is where you will find the most important emails, while the Other tab contains everything else. You can move emails between the two views if you don't like where Outlook automatically put them.
Instructions
To move an email to the Focused view in Outlook, follow these steps:
- Open Outlook.
- Where it shows the "Focused" and the "Other" inboxes, click to the "Other" inbox.
- Find the email you are wanting to move to the "Focused" view and right click it.
- Towards the bottom of the right-click-pop-up menu, click on the "Always Move to Focused" or "Move to Focused" option (depending on if messages of that type should always go to Focused or not).
If you want to move an email from the Focused view to the Other view you can also do that. The steps are the same as moving from Other to Focused, just in reverse:
- Open Outlook.
- Where it shows the "Focused" and the "Other" inboxes, click to the "Focused" inbox.
- Find the email you are wanting to move to the "Other" view and right click it.
- Towards the bottom of the right-click-pop-up menu, click on the "Always Move to Other" or "Move to Other" option (depending on if messages of that type should always go to Other or not).
Selecting the "Always" option for either method above will make emails that are similar to that one always move to the view you selected.
If you don't like the Focused View you can also turn it off by following these steps:
- Open Outlook and go to the View tab.
- Find the "Show Focused Inbox" option and click on it to un-highlight it.
This will change the "Focused" and "Other" views to instead be "All" and "Unread".
Benefits of Using the Focused View
The Focused view in Outlook can be a helpful tool for managing your emails. Here are some of the benefits of using the Focused view:
- It helps you focus on the most important emails first.
- It reduces distractions from less important emails.
- It can save you time by allowing you to quickly see which emails require your attention.
Conclusion
Making all of your emails go to the Focused view in Outlook can be a useful way to manage your inbox and stay focused on the most important emails. By following the instructions above, you can easily customize your Outlook settings to fit your preferences.
