How to Turn On Desktop Notifications for Five9
If you're looking to stay on top of your phone calls or tickets from Five9 and Freshdesk, enabling Desktop Notifications for them can be a great way to do so. This article will guide you through the steps to enable desktop notifications.
Note:
Many users report that Five9 calls don't ring when they come in. Please keep in mind that Five9 calls will only ring when you have the tab that Five9 is open in active. If you go to a different tab, or click in to a different screen/monitor, Five9 will not ring.
These pop-up notification steps may help for when you need to be working in another tab but still available to take calls, but it is not a replacement for the calls ringing. Please be advised that we recommend you always keep an eye on the tab your Five9 is open in, and leave the tab Five9 is open is as active whenever possible.
Step 1: Open Chrome Site Settings and Enable Notifications
With Google Chrome open, go to Settings (the three dots in the top right corner, then click settings) and search for Site Settings in the search bar at the top. Scroll down to Permissions and look for Notifications in the list.

Ensure "Sites can ask to send notifications" is selected. Click the Add button next to "Allowed to send Notifications" and enter in Five9 and Freshdesk exactly as shown below. Please note you need to include the [*.] at the beginning.

Step 2: Change Performance Settings
Still in the Chrome Settings, Go to the Performance tab. Make sure Memory Saver is turned off and then manually add Five9 and Freshdesk to the "Always keep these sites active" section exactly as shown below

Step 3: Change your Windows Notification Settings
Next, from the Windows Search Menu (the eyeglass icon on the taskbar in the bottom left corner) search for Notification and Action Settings and open that. Make sure that "Get Notifications from Apps and other Senders" is turned On. Scroll down to "Get notifications from these senders", find where it says Google Chrome, and make sure the slider is set to On.
Note: it also important that the "Focus Assist" is set to Off to ensure that all notifications are performed by the Browser (Focus Assist Settings should be accessible through the Notifications and Actions settings window at the top, right underneath the notifications toggle).

If you do not see Google Chrome listed under the "Get Notifications from these senders" area, you may have to force it to show up manually. The easiest way I have found to do that is to open a Chrome browser, go to teams.microsoft.com, and login to your Teams account. A pop up will appear in the bottom right corner and you will want to select Turn On. Once selected, repeat the prior steps to open the notification settings and Chrome should be an option now.

Step 4: Enable Chrome Desktop Notifications
Scroll down to "Get notifications from these senders" and click on Google Chrome to see more settings. In those new settings for Google Chrome, "Show notification banners" must be enabled and "Show notifications in Action Center" must be disabled so that all notification banners will pop up.

Step 5: Restart Your Computer
Once all steps are done, please restart your computer. Once logged back in and Five9 is reopened, you should now see pop-up notifications on your monitor every time a call comes in.
Conclusion
Enabling desktop notifications on your Chrome browser for Five9 is a great tool for helping you keep an eye on your incoming calls. Enabling these notifications, in addition to keeping Five9 in the active tab, are a great support to answering phone calls and making sure none slip by.
