How to Update Your Login Password
You may need to update your password for a variety of reasons. Maybe the password you had been using was compromised, or maybe you are a new hire who is needing to update your password from the default one provided for your first time login. Below are the steps for how to update your password and the complexity requirements for it.
Note:
Your "Login Password" refers to the password used when logging in to your computer. Due to our companies use of SSO (Single Sign-on), some of your other logins may be affected by this change, such as Microsoft Office products like Outlook, or browser based applications like MasterControl. Please keep this in mind when logging in to other applications on your computer, or if something stops working. You may need to sign out and then back in with your new password
Before You Update Your Password:
You must be either physically in an office location, or connected to the VPN in order to change your password. If you are not, you may receive an error message when attempting to update, and the change will not go through.
Password Requirements:
Your password must:
- Be at least 16 characters long
- Include at least 1 uppercase letter
- Include at least 1 lowercase letter
- Include at least 1 number
- Include at least 1 special character
- Approved special characters: ! @ # $ - _ + = .
Your password should not:
- Contain your first, middle, or last name, or any nicknames
- Contain anything specific to our company
- Office cities (Bothell, Burnaby, etc), the company or parent company name (Verathon or Roper), any products that we manufacture (Bflex, Bladderscan, Scanpoint, etc)
- Contain any of the following words or phrases
- Welcome1, Password, 123, abc, Seattle, Seahawks, Sounders, Silvertips, Mariners, Kraken, Thunderbirds
How to Update your Password:
- Login to your computer with your old password.
- Press Ctrl+Alt+Delete on your keyboard; you should now see a menu that looks like this.
- Click Change a Password. You should now see a menu that looks like this.
- Enter in your old password in the "Old Password" field, and what you want your new password to be in both the "New Password" and "Confirm Password" fields.
- Press Enter on your keyboard, or click on the arrow next to "Confirm Password".
- You should receive a message either confirming the update, advising that your password doesn't meet the complexity requirements, or stating it cant connect to the server/domain.
- If you get a confirmation message, you are all set! Your password has been updated.
- If it doesn't meet the requirements, please choose a new password and try again.
- If it states it cant connect to the server/domain, make sure you are connected to the VPN or in an office location and try again.
